TGSA (Wales)

Terry Griffiths is very proud of his Welsh roots and has lived his entire life in Llanelli in South Wales. Terry is a well known face in his home town and realised one of his dreams when, in 1987, he opened up his own snooker club in his home town.

What better place than Llanelli then to set up his first ever Terry Griffiths Snooker Academy (TGSA Wales)? The first class snooker venue at the Terry Griffiths Matchroom houses the world's first snooker academy managed on a daily basis by a former world champion.

Throughout this website you can find out more about the variety of snooker training available from Terry Griffiths and his son, Wayne.

In the TGSA (Wales) we have the first ever technical analysis software dedicated to snooker. This Snooker Lab software allows levels of analysis that have never been available in snooker before. Players can have their techniques compared side by side, frame by frame, with professionals from the very top of the game. Videos can be archived and recalled at any time to analyse changes in technique over time. The software gives access to remote training with Terry Griffiths via the internet and forms the basis of the training programme that we offer through our Academy set up.

There is little doubt that TGSA (Wales) will remain very much at the forefront of snooker skills development. This is assured by ongoing projects with U.W.I.C (one of the U.K.'s leading sporting universities) and a Welsh Assembly funded, 3 year video visualisation project in partnership with Writemedia and Swansea University.

The work with U.W.I.C is looking to provide a training programme for young snooker players that will take them from 9/10 years old through to 18 years old, hopefully achieving elite status on the way. The programme will cover technical, physical and psychological aspects as it aims to provide every player taking part with the tools and techniques to reach professional standards.

The work that TGSA (Wales) will do with Swansea University and Writemedia involves working in the field of video visualisation and will hopefully give Terry Griffiths Snooker the first ever product that allows snooker coaches access to instant hard data from player performance, using video only.

All in all, we believe that there is no better place in the world to learn snooker than at a Terry Griffiths Snooker Academy. As our reputation spreads and we work towards opening Terry Griffiths Snooker Academies around the world, it is hoped that our reputation will grow to match the level of coaching and development we offer to all our students.

Here at the TGSA (Wales) we have plenty of practice partners to suit all abilities. Regular visitors from the elite level like Marco Fu, Ryan Day and Mattew Stevens are joined by many Welsh Internationals and leading national and local players to offer visitors at any level, excellent competitive practice options.
