Wayne Griffiths

Wayne Griffiths returned to the family snooker business in 2003 after 10 years in the automotive industry. He is a Business graduate, having achieved a 2:1 Honours degree from the University of Wales in 1999. Before becoming a Director at Terry Griffiths (Matchroom) Limited he worked as a Programme Manager for Calsonic Kansei. The last major project he worked on before leaving the company was the Land Rover T5 Cooling System. On this project he was responsible for a team of 8 professionals working in a matrix structure to deliver a project that would turnover over £100 million with a pre-production tooling spend of £6.5 million.

Wayne GriffithsSince returning to the family business, Wayne has qualified as a Welsh Coach, holds Grade A status for coaching for the World Snooker Association and has delivered over 500 hours of snooker coaching. Much of Wayne's training and development has been under the expert mentorship of his father, Terry. He has developed, and now delivers, the training programme for National Coaches from across Europe under the banner of the European Billiards and Snooker Association. Some 25 Senior European Coaches from 12 European countries have completed this training programme. A keen sportsman, he has over 30 years of experience in and around snooker.

His claim to fame is that he actually took his father's record as the youngest winner of the Llanelli and District Snooker Championships - beating the previous record by only 1 month! Early promise came to nothing however as he chose to pursue his other sporting passion, football and he played in the semi professional Welsh League for Suburbs until hanging up his boots in 2003.

Even though Wayne (allegedly) has little or no time to practice these days, he still plays snooker to a reasonable club standard. At the time of writing this profile he holds the season's highest break (115) for the 2010 season in the Llanelli and District Snooker League.

He has coached players from India, China, Germany, Canada, Poland, Austria, Bulgaria, Latvia and many other countries and has travelled to deliver coaching for both players and coaches in Russia and Romania in recent years

Wayne has been the lead in developing the Terry Griffiths Snooker Lab software and he is also the project manager for this website and for the development of Terry Griffiths Snooker Academies. He is also currently working with both Swansea and Cardiff Universities on large scale development projects that will be rolled out under the Terry Griffiths Snooker banner in the very near future.

Married to his lovely wife since 1999, Wayne is a proud father to Katie (2006) and William (2009).
